Alfonso Gordaliza, Ph.D., is Full Professor at the Department of Stastistics and Operational Research of the University of Valladolid. Most of his scientific production is focus on the development of methodology in the field of Robust Statistics mainly through the idea of impartial trimming. Specifically, his main contributions deal with robust cluster analysis and robust mixture modelling. He is author or co-author of more than 40 scientific peer-reviewed scientific works, most of which are published in leading international journals, such as Annals of Statistics, Journal of the American Statistical Association and Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B. He is member of the steering committee of the ICORS (International Conference of Robust Statistics) and he has served as General Manager of Mathematics of the Spanish Research Funding Agency, as Editor in Chief of the journal TEST and Vice chair of the Spanish Society of Statistics and O.R.
