He studied Computer Science at the University of Siena where he got his PhD in Computer Engineering, adaptive information processing. He is currently research at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) in the Human Language Technology Machine Translation group. Before joining FBK, he worked as researcher for the European Commission Joint Research Centre and as research assistant at the University of Bristol in the Pattern Analysis and Intelligent Systems group. During his PhD he was visiting fellow at the University of Davis in the Statistical Department and intern at the Yahoo Research lab and at the Xerox Research Centre Europe. His main research interest is machine learning applied to natural language processing, in particular to machine translation.
